MBTI® TYPE TODAY > Type Research and Development

The four functions are somewhat like the four points of the compass...
  Type and Archetypes
Understanding the activity of archetypes within ourselves helps us gain access to unrealized potential and to make meaning of our lives. CAPT offers two instruments created by Carol S. Pearson and based on Jung's work with archetypes. The Pearson-Marr Archetype Indicator™ (PMAI)™ for individuals and the Organizational and Team Culture Indicator (TM)™( for looking at the underlying culture of an organization. For more information, go to www.capt.org

The FSDI (Function Skill Development Inventory) is a recently designed research instrument designed to help people who know their MBTI® the preferences assess their use of the eight functions. The questionnaire helps to self-assess the development of 40 mental skills that the authors, Margaret and Gary Hartzler, have been able to associate with the 8 functions. It is available to MBTI®practitioners for use with their clients at  www.8functions.com.

  The Magnificent 16
A Multimedia Gallery of Type Portraits: A Work In Progress
Danielle Poirier and her team are developing a Multimedia Gallery of Type Portraits.  The Magnificent Sixteen uses paintings, animation, music, and interviews in which people tell how type  shapes their approach to life in order to enable the viewer to inhabit just for a moment another person's world - to experience the world from within another's perspective that will enable them to know the richness of differences. An ambitious creative endeavor to be introduced at the APTXV Conference in Toronto.  Previewers are enthusiastic.  Read more...

Exploring the Connection Between Type and Exercise
"I believe it is difficult for so many people to maintain an exercise program because they attempt to exercise in a way that is incompatible with their type or stage of type development. They are doomed from the start."
The author researches type-related patterns in exercise choices.

Mapping the Organization Psyche by John C. Corlett and Carol S. Pearson.
In focusing on the unconscious dynamics of organizational behavior, the authors have created a model which may well explain puzzling failures in traditional OD interventions. Well-written, easy to understand, and includes a step-by-step how-to for using. www.capt.org

between practitioner and client is important and the interpretation session should be scheduled before the client receives the results.
